Fun, but not really worth the extra costJan 01, 2011
By Sullysmom We got this particular spider because my son thought it would be very cool to have it climb the wall. What we discovered is that we can place it on the wall and then it proceeds to slide down the wall instead of actually moving with the remote. I'm not convinced that the design is the best possible design. We probably should have saved the extra $5-$10 and gone with something a little more basic.

Waste of moneyJan 12, 2011
By W. Caton I bought this toy for my son for christmas. I knew he would love to watch it climb walls. No such luck. This thing looks good and makes a lot of noise. It does crawl on the floor but it does not climb walls. It wouldn't even stay on the wall when he tried to stick it there. I would have returned it to the store if not for the fact that my son ripped the box apart in his excitement to open it. Worst of all, it was not on sale so I paid full price, $40. What a waste.

Fun - while it lastedMay 13, 2011
By C. C. Holland My 6-year-old son bought this with his hard-earned allowance. What a letdown for the poor guy.
Initially, it worked exactly as promised. As noted in other reviews, it uses suction to cling to walls and ceilings, and it did work as advertised -- although also as noted, the suction feature is loud (think handheld vacuum). That makes it completely useless for stealth scares, which disappointed my son. You can also use the spider in non-wall mode, in which it operates as a typical RC item on the floor. It was cool to watch this thing scurry across the ceiling, and we had a lot of fun with it.
While it lasted.
By Day Two, and without any abuse or damage, the suction feature was no longer working. The suction motor just wouldn't turn on. We assumed the spider's internal battery was out of power, so we charged it overnight with the remote, per the directions. Unfortunately, nothing changed, at least not for the better. The suction feature still didn't work, and now even the RC controls were messed up; the spider would only spin in a circle, regardless of which controls we tried.
All in all, pretty disappointing. Maybe we got a dud, but it ended up being a waste of money.

A. McDonald (Fantasma Web Runner Remote Control Spider)Dec 29, 2010

Son gets frustrated, as spider tends to go in repeated circles. The fan really does not work well on walls, the legs really dont move well and are just rubber stuck on the sides. Very cheezy construction. The remote is huge for the use of the device, and get a load of the amount of batteries. My son has played with it twice. It really should get 2 stars all around, the nosie the thing makes, is annoying at best. However, the shape, is a plus. But buy something else, no bonus for the son here. Drats another bummer christmas gift...

Fun toyDec 04, 2010

This really does climb walls! When in suction mode, it sounds like a small vacuum cleaner which is a bit annoying to the adults. It doesn't turn corners, so to get it to crawl on the ceiling, you have to be tall enough to put it there first. The legs are a bit flimsy. However, the fun of this toy outweighs all the negatives. My 8-year-old daughter loves it.
